  • 01.07.2017 - Anke Menkhorst appointed as CEO of ESL

    ESL Education announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer. Anke Menkhorst will take over the role from Patrick Siegenthaler, co-founder of ESL.

    With over 20 years experience, Anke Menkhorst has led multiple international businesses and consistently delivered excellent results combining strong business acumen and team building skills.

    Patrick Siegenthaler, co-founder of ESL comments: “After joining ESL in 2015 in the role of COO, Anke Menkhorst has proven to be an ambitious leader that can inspire the ESL team and lead the organisation towards its ambitious growth objectives. In 2017 alone we have opened 9 new offices in Europe, which brings the total number to 58 ESL offices around the world.”

    Patrick Siegenthaler will assume the role of Chairman of the Board for ESL and in this capacity will continue to shape the company’s long-term vision and expansion plans.


  • 01.02.2017 - ESL opens two new offices in Switzerland

    As part of its strategy to grow its presence in the Alpine country, ESL opened new sales offices in Chiasso and Neuchâtel. There will continue to be openings in Switzerland throughout the year.


  • 12.01.2017 - Certificates of Excellence

    To start the new year, ESL announces which partner schools have been awarded with a Certificate of Excellence. This recognition is exclusively based on the feedback and ratings provided by our students, thus guaranteeing a first-class experience.


  • 06.10.2016 - ESL Workshop and ESL Language Travel Awards

    After two successful editions, the third ESL International Workshop took place in Montreux. ESL took the opportunity of having so many of its partners and key members in the same location to announce the finalists – and winners – of the brand new ESL Language Travel Awards, which recognise the schools that have had an outstanding performance during the previous year.


  • 04.09.2016 - ESL: Star Agency in Europe for the 5th time

    ESL was voted “Star Agency in Europe” for the 5th time, thus receiving a “Lifetime Award”, which recognises the excellent quality of its services. After winning in 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015, this new award confirms our position as an industry leader.


  • 21.08.2016 - 20 years of ESL

    ESL reaches a new milestone in 2016, as the company celebrates two decades of success in the language travel industry. Since 1996, thousands of students have travelled to hundreds of destinations all around the world with ESL. To celebrate this coming of age, our team and partners will take part in the several parties and events that we will hold in our offices across Europe and Latin America.

    The awards take place each year and are based on votes from thousands of language schools from all over the world.

  • 01.12.2014 - ESL strengthens its network of offices in Europe

    In 2014, ESL ­continued its development with the opening of 6 new sales offices in Europe: Aarau (Switzerland), Turin (Italy), Bilbao (Spain), Lille (France), Frankfurt and Freiburg (Germany). This brings the total number of ESL drop-in offices around the world to 44, including 42 in Europe and 2 in Latin America.

  • 22.04.2013 - ESL-Switzerland partners up with swiss champion Lara Gut!

    Swiss alpine skiing champion Lara Gut already speaks 5 languages, so it comes as no surprise that ESL decided to partner up with her for the 2013/2014 season.

    ESL offers a range of 20 foreign languages, which means she still has 15 more to learn! She might want to study Russian to prepare for the forthcoming Sotchi Olympic Games. For now, ESL wishes her a lot of success in her career.

  • 15.05.2012 - ESL supports Guillaume Burger for the Olympic Games

    ESL-Language Travel supports kayaker Guillaume Burger. The young Frenchman has already taken part in many competitions and won many titles in the Junior category, including the title of European Champion.

    At the age of 23, Guillaume Burger is now looking to the Olympic Games and hopes to be able to compete for the French team in Rio in 2016.

  • 14.03.2012 - En route to the 2012 Olympic games with ESL!

    ESL supports the SUI7 project. Two young Swiss navigators are getting ready to take part in the 2012 London Olympic Games. After a successful career as junior navigators, Olivier and Adrien Gremaud, two brothers from Morges, have set themselves the challenge of participating in the Olympics Games in the category “470 - Men's Two-Person Dinghy”. “Olivier and Adrien have a fantastic project that will see them travel the world in order to achieve their dream. We are proud to be able to support them in their project and wish them all the best in taking up the challenges set before them” explains Gautier Oudot, Regional manager of ESL – Language Studies Abroad for the French-speaking part of Switzerland.   • 02.01.2012 - ESL strengthens its network of offices in Europe

    The year got off to a great start for ESL – Language Studies Abroad, which opened 5 new branch offices at the beginning of 2012. After Milan, Rome and Bologna, its fourth office in Italy opened in Verona. In Spain, Valencia comes in addition to the Barcelona and Madrid offices. In Switzerland, the Winterthur opening brings the total number of Swiss drop-in offices to 13. Besides, the Geneva office moves to new premises, doubling its welcoming capacity to meet a constantly increasing demand. In Belgium, a new drop-in office opens in Antwerp, confirming ESL-language Studies Abroad’s wish to be present in the two language areas of the country. ESL-Language Studies Abroad also expands its presence in Europe by opening two new branch offices in two new markets. With the recent opening of the Amsterdam office, the Netherlands now counts among the countries where the organisation is present physically. ESL chose London, of course, as the location for its first branch office in Great Britain. Thus, since the beginning of the year, ESL - Language Studies Abroad has 37 branch offices, 35 of which in Europe and 2 of which in Latin America.

    ESL – Language Studies Abroad is happy to announce the opening of its first overseas office in Nouméa. The agency is located in Faubourg Blanchot (4, rue Charbonneaux), a stone’s throw away from the N’Géa commercial centre.

    ESL strengthens its presence in Latin America by opening of a new branch office in Colombia. The new office, located in the heart of Bogota, will enable the organisation to meet the increasing demand in the region and to be even closer to the people who wish to go abroad to learn or practice a language.

  • 15.12.2010 - Two new ESL agencies in Barcelona and Berlin !

    2011 gets off to a great start with the opening of two new offices in Europe. Berlin will come in addition to the two ESL – Language Studies Abroad German offices and Barcelona will join Madrid in Spain. With these two openings, the agency’s division of the ESL group now includes 30 branch offices.
